Sirius Ale

Review - Lagunitas Brewing Company's Sirius Ale

"We brewed this Special High Gravity Cream Ale in serious celebration of the return of the salubrious Spring... With the long dark days of the Season of Damp nearly behind us and the possibilities of a long languid Summer ahead." -- Lagunitas Brewing Company

Pours with an enthusiastic dark yellow color with very active carbonation with a decent, fizzy off-white head with pretty good retention. Surprising us in the nose is a heavy dose of hop resins that come off more like a West Coast IPA than a cream ale. Citrus hops notes pervade. The first taste is full of a very bubbly carbonation that brings with it a crisp, sharp bitterness that ever so gently glides into a slightly creamy, slightly oily sour finish that coats our mouths with a blanket of goodness, finally providing us with a semblance of what would be expected from a cream ale. With a medium body, it coats very well with a dry texture.
