Review - Brooklyn Brewery's Pennant Ale

"Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chestnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team." -- Brooklyn Brewery

Pours a nice dark amber color with an active white, fizzy head that quickly dies with weak lacing. It's mostly clear, but it has an almost light maple syrup appearance. The aroma is very inviting with soapy notes and sweet malt notes that give an almost butterscotch tone like Worther's Originals. First taste imparts a rich sweetness up front, shifting to a citrus, dry bitter that gives us an oily consistency. Light to medium bodied, it has a creamy texture that leaves us oily on the cheek.
