Review - Appalachian Brewing Company's Hoppy Trails IPA

"This India Pale Ale is an exciting beer with a floral in aroma and an incredible hop flavor. The maltiness is increased (over a regular pale ale) to help balance the aggressive hop usage. This contributes to the higher alcohol content as well." -- Appalachian Brewing Company

The Hoppy Trails pours a light yellow color with a massive, off-white chunky frothy head with stick retention and fantastic lacing. Nose is loaded with citrus hops with grapefruit notes, resiny pine. As the aroma matures, it reveals a ginger snap-like maltiness. Initially, its lightly bitter, but it quickly builds to moderately bitter finish with an almost chlorine bite at the end. Likeness to grapefruit juice in it's bitterness. It's hoptastic bite leaves us wanting more.
