Review - Weyerbacher Brewing Company's Blasphemy!
"First released in March 2007, Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer. Expected to be an annual Spring seasonal, supplies are limited."
Pours a deep amber color with very active carbonation, producing a small one finger head with a fizzy, yellowish-brown. Settles out a light garnet color covered with a mostly diminished head. Aroma is dominated with the aroma of a bourbon barrel, filled with heavily sweet malt overtones and alcohol undertones. Initial taste is packed with a strong alcohol burn that burns the eyes and we lift the glass, and is accompanied by a heavily sweet taste that gives way to a light sweet, warming finish. Medium bodied, it has a creamy texture with a strong alcohol finish.
