Review - Lagunitas Brewing Company's Cappuccino Stout
"Our Original Stout, brewed with real Hardcore Coffee from Sebastopol." -- Lagunitas Brewing Company
Pours a dark walnut color with a fairly large, light brown head with decent retention. Pretty good lacing clings to our glass with quick moving bubbles. The aroma caught us off guard as it is very balanced, with equal amounts of grapefruit hops up front that backs into the chocolate maltiness at the end of the nose. Initially, the taste is chocolate-loaded, with a bitterness that dominates the tongue, but as the taste moves to the back, it reveals a subtle sweetness that delicately balances off the bitterness. Medium bodied, it has a creamy texture despite a dry finish from the hops, with gentle carbonation that does a good job carrying the subtle tastes through our palate.
