Portsmouth Lager

Review - Smuttynose Brewing Company's Portsmouth Lager

"A full-flavored, medium bodied continental-style beer - deep golden in color, featuring a mouth-pleasing maltiness subtly balanced with spicy Hallertau and Tettnanger hops." -- Smuttynose Brewing Company

The Portsmouth Lager pours a cloudy dark yellow and settles clear with a small off white fizzy head. The lacing was small, almost non existent. The nose detected a moderately strong presence with notes of bread, in specific white bread. It smelled very good and made our mouth water. The initial light bitter taste remained the same into the finish for a long duration. There was a strong malt presence in the creamy taste. It was light to medium in body and softly carbonated. We were pleased with this offering and agreed that it was the best during this review. Comments: This is a very tasty lager - Ian. This beer was reviewed with Amber, Ryan Ian and Sean.
