Brown Ale

Review - The Matt Brewing Company's Saranac Brown Ale

"Brewers Notes: This Brown Ale is brewed with American malt and hops, and traditional ale yeast. Look for a sweet, chocolaty taste, with balanced bitterness resulting in a full flavored but smoothly drinkable beer." -- The Matt Brewing Company

Pours a dark brown color with a large, frothy off-white with good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma is of faint hop presence, but is overwhelmed by a malty nose. Initial taste quickly sweet up front, but shifts to a light bitter finish with short duration. Medium bodied, it has a slighty dry finish with soft carbonation.

Deceptive hoppy nose was not supported by the taste, which, while bitter, is not enjoyable.
