Review - Offshore Brewing Company's Nut Brown Ale
"Notes of lightly toasted bread from the caramel malt and hints of bittersweet chocolate from chocolate and black malts. Balanced perfectly with Noble Hops from the UK. With awards from The World Beer Cup and The Great American Beer Festival, we are proud to call this brew the “Local’s Favorite.”" -- Offshore Brewing
The Nut Brown Ale pours a reddish-brown color with a medium, light-brown fizzy head. It settles with an opaque body. Mostly diminishing head, excellent lacing. Aroma - See Guinness - HA HA. Light sweet malty aroma with hints of caramel and bread. Wood mentioned that it smelled like darker hops with hints of dark German chocolate. The initial sweet flavor was quite pleasant, followed by a light bitter flavor for a short duration. Soft carbonation, watery texture, with a light to medium body. This was a unique tasting nut brown. Sean appreciated the sweet flavor, rather than a strong nutty taste that he expected. This brew was also available cask conditioned. As you would expect, it was a warmer temperature, but it also was a little sweeter from the cask. 28 IBU's.
Reviewer's notes: "That's odd, it smells like a Guinness to me - Wood (aka George). Not nutty, but I like it better this way - Sean. Not a strong overwhelming taste, but still good - Sean"
