Pangaea

Review - Dogfish Head Brewery's Pangaea

"An experimental beer using one ingredient from every continent (crystallized ginger from Australia, fermantable blue rice from Asia, Belgian yeast, etc.) Pangaea is the name of the Earth's sole supercontinent before the continents split over a billion years ago." -- Dogfish Head Brewery"

The Pangaea was a gift from Andy for our 100th Beer Review party, and we were looking forward with great anticipation to trying it. Unfortunately, after all the build-up, we were slightly let down. It pours a medium amber, almost caramel, color with a small, white head. Fully diminishing, it leaves no lacing behind. Clear, still body, but particles settle at the bottom. Sweet aroma with hints of ginger, and a light yeast scent define this beer. Initial taste is medium sweet, softening to a light sweet at the finish, with an average duration on the palate. Light bodied, watery consistency, and soft carbonation at the finish.

Reviewer's notes: "Soft ginger taste, this doesn't distinguish iteself, unique and doesn't remind me of anything else, cork is bland"
