BREWERY UPDATE: Cape Ann Brewing’s Pub is open for business‏

For those who have followed the Cape Ann Brewery, we’ve got great news to share.

As of February 12th 2009, the doors of the brewpub will be open for business. The Brewpub will be open from Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM serving Panorama Pizza, Neds sandwitches and of course beer. We are closed on sundays for now, but we are working on getting open on sundays as well in the near future.

Come one come all.

Cape Ann Brewing

It has been quite an adventure for the folks at Cape Anne Brewing Company. It started in June 2008, when the Cape Ann Brewing company went in front of the Gloucester Licensing Board to ask for a 3-4 day servicing licensing during the summer festival.

They went up against a group of neighbors that were against the brewing. The block outside of the Gloucester town hall was crowed with protesters holding signs and supporters of the brewery. Here we are, showing our support:

In the Fall, Cape Ann Brewing Company went in front of the Licensing board to ask for a permit to provide “3-4” ounce samples and to sell growlers. Seven months later, they were awarded the permit that they sought from the beginning – full serving permit. This will allow them more flexibility in their operations. Once all of the details are ironed out, they brewpub will not only introduce their beers to a larger customer base, but they will be able to supplement their beer sales with their food sales.

This is a big hurdle to get past.

Good Luck.
