Glad to be Back and Monday Night 24

As everyone knows, I returned to the U S of A on Sunday morning. My two weeks in the Philippines was fun and it helped purge my system of microbrews and strengthen my 2beerguy core. Yes, there were beers in Manila. How do they compare with microbrews? Unfortunately, they don’t appear on the same field. [...]

Beer and baseball

What goes best with beer? Baseball of course!

Last night, Chris, Liz, Don and I went over to RFK for the Nationals v Diamondbacks game. The hometown team didn’t give us much to cheer for, managing only 1 hit through 8 2/3 innings and trailing 7-0, but a late charge, started by Ryan Church with a [...]

March North Shore Brewer’s Club Meeting

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, Ian, Thirsty Beard (Ryan) and I attended our third North Shore brewers club meeting. This even was located at the Topsfield Fair grounds in the club house.
This meeting’s theme was a “Ham Fest”. To join in with the festivities, we brought two growlers of Redhook’s “Long HAMmer IPA”. The feast [...]

Wait, what was this party for again?

Oh that’s right, last night was the “release” party for Redhook’s new, well, newly named anyway, IPA. At long last, the Long Hammer was dropped on the public, but with such little fanfare it felt less like being hit with a long hammer and more like a pin prick. Driving into the Redhook facility in [...]

Raising the roof at Redhook
Chasing a dream
Baking with Beer
Sam Adams forging ahead
Time to look at stouts

Appearances can be deceiving….

Yesterday, Amber and I spent the day in Boston (to watch the Bruins…who won…and we had really amazing seats 2 rows back from the ice…oh yeah!). Side note: we had winter hook and blonde ale from Red Hook while were there. I love the fact that you can get Red Hook there.
Anyhow, after a day [...]

Long Hammer IPA

At the turn of the year, Redhook re-named their very popular IPA to Long Hammer IPA. As I sit here in the Redhook Cataqua Publick House, sipping this concoction, I can assure you that it is every bit as much the IPA that it was before. Long story short…it’s the same beer.
Now, for me, this [...]

Beer University - Baker and Stoney Style

Last night, Sean and I became graduates of the 2006 class of Beer University at the Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth, NH. 100.3 WHEB, sponsored the event, with Baker and Stoney, the evening drive time team, providing music and give-always to all.
Before we went on the brewery tour, we enjoyed pitchers of their IPA and their [...]
