Cape Ann Brewing Company announced a new beer release on Tuesday – Fisherman’s Brown Ale. With a mild hop bite, it’s well balanced with a roasted-chocolate character.

I’m not sure if this is a new year round style or if this is a seasonal/special offering. Maybe Jeremy will see this post and give us a run down on the full specs (I’d assume that it’s about somewhere in the ballpark of 4-5% abv and about 20-30 IBU’s).

Until then, if you happen to sample this deliciously sounding brew, please let us know your opinion.

Enjoy!!

Amesbury Days Invitational Craft Brewers Festival

Amesbury is an up and coming community with a long history of community activities, creativity, and craft brew enjoyment. In recent years there has been a resurgence in the craft brewing tradition, which for Amesbury has culminated in the opening of several outstanding pubs, a brewery, as well as discerning palates. Amesbury Days is looking to highlight this with our first Invitational Craft Brewer Festival.

Start: July 2, 2010 5:00 pm

End: July 2, 2010 8:00 pm

Venue: Town Hall Parking Lot

Address: Friend Street, Amesbury, United States, 01913

What makes this any different from other area beer festival? This festival is geared toward the smaller, lesser known brewers who put quality above quantity, who have passion, a unique message, and a stake in the art of beer making. Come down and try beers from brewers ….

Just drink Saranac Irish Red Ale and Saranac Irish Stout! They are the perfect beers to get you in the spirit of ‘ol St. Patrick. We brewed these two lucky beers with Irish inspiration that we’re sure you’ll love. You can read more on each of theses brews through the links above, and when you’re out celebrating, be sure to ask for a Saranac!

While digging through some historical artifacts, we found the picture posted here. The photo is F.X. Matt II (Fred’s father and Nick’s brother, pictured on right) with Peter Coleman, owner of Coleman’s Irish Pub, in our aging cellar next to the tank of green beer we exclusively brewed for them in 1989.

Coleman’s is a bar located in Syracuse, NY at the top of Tipperary Hill. This area, known for its Irish flare (just check out the traffic light reversed to resemble the Irish Flag), hosts Green Beer Sunday every year to kick off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The festivities include a parade where they deliver green beer in a tanker in front of the pub.

Although the green beer they serve now is not ours, we actually made Coleman’s green beer right here in the Brewery at that time. How cool is that? Today, you can enjoy Saranac Irish Red there on tap. We thought you would enjoy this story about a tradition known near and far. Slainte!

Did You Know? Saranac Irish Stout is the 50th variety of Saranac ever brewed. http://www.saranac.com

——————————————————————————–

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Wednesday and while we usually aren’t open Wednesday evenings, we have this really great Irish-Style Dry Stout called Patio Tools and we can’t think of a better day to drink it then on St. Patrick’s Day. So we’ll be keeping the Tasting Room open till 9PM on St. Patty’s Day. So stop by and quaff of a pint of Patio Tools Irish-Style Dry Stout (or one of our other fine ales) or just grab a growler to take home for your St. Patty’s Day revelry! http://www.cigarcitybeer.com/

Pumpkin Stout Released on 8-14-09

It’s fall again(at least as far as Craft beers are concerned) so go check out your local package stores and get a case or two or three. If your store doesn’t have it cause a scene, scream at the top of your lungs right in the face of the clerk and voice your displeasure with such a colossal oversight. That might be a bit of an over-reaction but I assure you, this is what needs to be done. Cheers!

The fisherman’s pumpkin Stout pours a medium brown color, settles a dark brown color, covered in a fizzy, light brown, small head that quickly diminishes. Thin lacing with very little clinging ability. The aroma is very enticing with a sweet chocolate scent, paired with gentle pumpkin notes. Initial taste is slightly sweet, moving to a moderately bitter finish. Chocolate dominates the taste, covering up most of all of the pumpkin. Medium bodied, the mouthfeel fantastic with a velvety coating. A slightly dry texture, and soft carbonation.
