Beer Week: 2010 New York Craft Beer Week (NY)

To all the New York City Beer Lovers near and far,

We hope your year has been going well. As much as we’re enjoying the summer, the mid-point is almost here and we’re a LOT more excited about what the fall has to bring. Along with a reprieve from the ridiculous heat and humidity (one can hope), it will also bring the arrival of the THIRD ANNUAL NY CRAFT BEER WEEK from September 24 through October 3, 2010.

New York City will again come together again to celebrate the diversity, ingenuity and craftsmanship of the craft breweries we are lucky enough to enjoy at scores of beer destinations in all five boroughs. We have some great events lined up over the 10 days and even more in the pipeline too. This is THE WEEK to savor the splendors of New York City’s great beer community.

In honor of the highly anticipated NYC Passport, the official NY Craft Beer Week program guide, we have teamed up with our friends at Thrillist to offer a limited time special for those who share our early excitement. For the next ten days (folks, that’s one Beer Week worth of time), you can score a Passport and T-shirt for only $15. Following August 7th, Passports will return to their normal price of $10 and our very cool t-shirts will only be the domain of those smart enough to buy them in time. As a loyal fan of NY Craft Beer Week, we wanted to make sure you heard it all first. Also look out in early September for the release of our first ever iPhone app, which is sure to revolutionize the way you enjoy good beer in our city forever after.

We’re not sure you can safely handle learning all at once of how awesome the whole week is shaping up to be, so here’s a bit of an early teaser on some of the amazing events coming your way the first couple of days of NY Craft Beer Week this fall. In due time, we’ll drop a little more knowledge on the highlights to be found the rest of the Week.

• Passport holders have access to special promotions at 85+ craft beer venues all over New York City, during the Beer Week and throughout the next year.
• 3rd Annual Freaktoberfest Boutique Beer & Music Festival – kicks off the Week on Friday, September 24th. Featuring tastings of specialty beers from all your favorite craft brewers and hosted by Donny Vomit, the current MC of the Coney Island Sideshow. Indie-rock bands, burlesque dancers and additional performers from the Coney Island Sideshow will perform throughout the evening.
• Get Real NY Cask Ale & Food Festival – Saturday and Sunday, September 25th and 26th. Dozens and dozens of cask beers from even more of your favorite breweries, and all available in one location with good food to boot.
• Zagat Beer Pairing Menus – prix-fixe 3 course menus, all served with unique beer pairings available anytime during the Week at over two dozen Zagat rated restaurants.
• Long Island City Craft Beer Festival – two sessions of even more great craft beer, all with sand between your toes and a beautiful skyline backdrop just across the river.
