Q: When is the Portsmouth Beer Weekend?

A: Wednesday, March 2nd thru Monday, March 7th 2011.

Q: What is the Portsmouth Beer Weekend?

A: It’s a celebration of beers. There are a ton of different beers out there and YOU need to drink them.

Q: Who is participating in the Portsmouth Beer Weekend?

A: The Gas Light, the Portsmouth Brewery, RiRa Irish Pub, the River House and many more resturants.

Q: Who might I see during the Portsmouth Beer Weekend?

A: Click here to visit our who's who page. If you are a beer blogger and you'd like to be added to this page, please let us know.

Q: When is Kate the Great Day?

A: Monday, March 7th.

Q: What time does Kate the Great day start?

A: *** Changed for 2011 *** There are two parts to the day. The bottle sales and the official tapping, see below for additional information.

1) Bottles: This year, we are going to organize bottle sales using custom-printed scratch tickets. Ten thousand tickets will be available, with nine hundred "winners" mixed randomly among them. These tickets will be sold at the Portsmouth Brewery for $2 apiece starting six weeks prior to Kate Day, until they run out. All of the revenue generated by the sale of these scratch tickets will be donated to a non-profit of our choice.

Sale of scratch tickets will be limited to ten per person per day. Scratch tickets must be purchased in person at the Brewery. None will be sold by mail and only can be purchased in person.

Update 2/6/11

Tickets went on sale on January 29th at 3:00 PM and sold out in 28 hours.
All proceeds benefit the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire and the Center for Wildlife in York, Maine.

For Winners A winning scratch ticket has no cash value - it merely entitles the bearer to purchase a single bottle of Kate at his or her convenience any time from March 7 through April 15, 2011. An individual can purchase as many bottles of Kate as he or she has winning scratch tickets. Winning scratch tickets become invalid after April 15, 2011. Any bottles of Kate remaining unsold after that date will be made available to the general public in our retail store.

Second Chance for Losers Losing tickets may be used to enter our Second Chance Contest. Write your name and contact information on the back of your losing tickets and drop in the contest box at the Portsmouth Brewery. The drawing will take place on Kate Day, March 7, 2011. You need not be present to win. Consolation Prize: Brew for a Day with Portsmouth Brewery's Head Brewer (and creator of Kate) Tod Mott.

Other details:
- The same quantity of Kate the Great will be brewers (ten barrels) and it will be equally split between draught and bottles.

- The price of bottles has increased from $10 to $15.

- Kate the Great will not be available in growlers.

- Unlike previous years, calendar pages will not be passed out.

2) The Portsmouth Brewery will open its doors for business at eleven on Kate Day. Beer lovers will be invited into the building in groups of 50, spaced 15 minutes apart, until the restaurant is fully seated. This is to assure that service (and beer) flows smoothly, enabling Portsmouth Brewery to provide the best hospitality throughout the day. The official tapping of Kate will take place around 12:30-ish.
